Just Revel… Revel Hard

It has been so long since I have written on here. Do know that I think about writing on a semi-regular basis but always find myself consumed in the work of the day or merely going to a creek and stomping with my family.

A brief update since my last entry, I am now the proud father of 2 girls! Biscuit got a sister in May of 2020 (she was born on our wedding anniversary, 5/16)! While it is still incredibly early on in Bagel’s world, she could not be more different than her sister already, and we love that. So far, she is one of the few beautiful things to come out of 2020.

Tonight, as I write, I am sitting in an empty home. (Home is an interesting word choice as we have just recently moved, but I will save that for another post.) My wife, children, and dog are spending the week with my in-laws in Missouri. I am sitting on the couch with my first “child,” Moses, the cat, and we just finished watching the documentary Dads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7clwrlPI64U

I don’t know if it is the simple fact that I am alone in a mostly empty home (Moses keeps nudging me) or what, but this film had me in tears of joy and enthused about taking on the years ahead that are sure to be filled with both laughter, hair ties, teenage drama, and much love.

For all the dads, please do yourself and your family a favor and watch the show. If you don’t have Apple + holler at me and I will lend you my login, that’s how much I believe in it (but seriously, you can get a free year trial on your own so #DadUp).

I don’t know what will become of this journey that I am on of being Dad. The sad truth is that I won’t even be the one to determine whether or not ultimately, I was successful. But, I know that it is a calling that I am happy to answer and one that I pray I will be able to do to the best of my ability.

I am a fortunate man to get to have Biscuit and Bagel everyday. (Okay that was a little cheesy on the dad joke-o-meter, but hey I’m a dad)
